ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Jarrod Washburn pitched four-hit ball into the seventh inning as the Anaheim Angels beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 2-1 Thursday night.
Washburn (5-5) struck out three, walked three and hit two batters over 6 2/3 innings in improving to 6-1 all-time against Tampa Bay.
Garret Anderson had an RBI single during the Angels two-run, first inning. Anaheim had failed to score in the first in its previous 17 games.
Brad Fullmer had to be restrained near the Angels' dugout after he was ejected by umpire Charlie Reliford after being called out trying to score in the sixth inning.
Reliford ruled Fullmer missed the plate with his hand as he attempted to avoid catcher Toby Hall's tag on Bengie Molina's single.
Fullmer smashed his helmet to the ground and was immediately thrown out. He continued yelling at Reliford from the dugout.
RANGERS 8, ORIOLES 4: At Baltimore, Hank Blalock went 3-for-3, walked twice and scored two runs as Texas ended Baltimore's four-game winning streak.
Ruben Sierra hit a two-run homer in the ninth, helping the Rangers to their ninth win in 11 games.
Blalock boosted his batting average to .359, regaining the AL lead from Baltimore's Melvin Mora, who went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. His average fell three points to .356.
The Orioles were seeking a fifth straight win for the first time since May 2001.
Ismael Valdes (5-2) allowed two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn his second win over the Orioles in seven days.
Orioles starter Pat Hengten (1-2) allowed six runs, six hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings. As he reached the end of his walk from the mound, he displayed his frustration by flipping his glove into the stands.
WHITE SOX 3, BLUE JAYS 2: At Toronto, Esteban Loaiza allowed just two runs in 7 2/3 innings against his former team as Chicago beat Toronto.
Carlos Delgado hit his 16th homer, but he committed two of Toronto's season-high four errors, including one that led to two unearned runs in the fourth inning.
Toronto, which leads the majors in runs, hits and extra-base hits, has scored just two runs in its last two games.
Loaiza (8-2) allowed five hits but saw his league-leading ERA increased from 1.92 to 1.96 as he tied Seattle's Jamie Moyer and Toronto's Cory Lidle (8-3) for the AL lead in wins.
MARINERS 10, TWINS 6: At Minneapolis, Bret Boone homered, doubled twice and drove in four runs, and Gil Meche pitched seven-plus strong innings as Seattle beat Minnesota in the first game of a four-game series between the division leaders.
The AL West-leading Mariners tied their season high for hits with 18 and won for the 10th time in 13 games. The Central-leading Twins had won 21 of their last 27 games, including two of three last weekend in Seattle.
Boone's two-run homer off Brad Radke (5-5) was his 14th home run of the season, and the 200th of his 13-year major league career.
Carlos Guillen had his second career four-hit game for the Mariners.
Meche (7-2) gave up four runs, six hits, walked one and struck out four.
ATHLETICS 6, ROYALS 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Mark Mulder tied for the AL lead with his eighth win, leading the Oakland Athletics over the reeling Kansas City Royals 6-1.
Mulder (8-2) improved to 6-0 against Kansas City, allowing eight hits in seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.36, second in the AL to Chicago's Esteban Loaiza (1.96) and pitched at least seven innings for the ninth straight start.
Kansas City got its only run on Angel Berroa's two-out RBI double in the seventh.
Oakland has won nine of its last 10 games against the Royals. Kansas City is 2-10 at home since starting the season 11-0 in Kauffman Stadium. The Royals (26-25) have lost four straight overall and 12 of 15, and are just 10-22 following a 16-3 start.
