Our memory of Bessie is a gift of God that death cannot destroy. Bessie passed away in Bountiful, Utah, May 2, 2003.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Sept 27, 1915, to Fredrick and Mable Gruendell. She married Barney Melton Oct 14, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was a homemaker her entire life, rearing her sons and grandchildren. She shared many hunting and fishing trips with her beloved husband, family and friends at the homestead in "Swan," Condon, MT. She was admired by her family, close friends and LDS ward for her wonderful talent as a watercolor and oil painting artist.
Preceded in death by her husband, Barney, and son, Steven. She is survived by her sons, Fred (Mary), Allen (Margo); 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express thanks to the nursing staff and many assistants and volunteers at the South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful. Their professional care, love, and close friendship with Bessie is greatly appreciated by the family and will long be remembered.
