American Fork will celebrate its sesquicentennial on July 19 with the Steel Days Parade.

Those interested in participating in the parade can download an application at www.afcity.org/SteelDays/index.htm.

Applications must be received by June 14.

Spanish Fork

The second annual Himalayan performing arts festival will be June 7 at the Krishna Temple, one mile south of Spanish Fork on Main Street. Performing artists will take the stage starting at 6 p.m.

Local artists can participate.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children.

Provo

Organizers of the grand parade of America's Freedom Festival at Provo are accepting entries. The deadline is Thursday.

This year's parade will be held along University Avenue on July 4 starting at 10 a.m.

The 2003 parade theme is "Let Freedom Ring." Parade applicants are encouraged to incorporate the theme into their entry.

Application forms, a complete list of requirements and general parade information can be found online at www.freedomfestival.org.

Highland

Grammy-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker and Latin percussionist Jesus Diaz will perform at Lone Peak High School on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the 2003 Crescent Jazz Festival.

Festival clinics and performances start at 9:30 a.m. and are free and open to the public.

BYU

A team of Brigham Young University's students won two awards at the National Model U.N. competition. The annual event is held each April in New York.

The BYU team was recognized with an honorable mention and an distinguished delegation award. More than 2,600 students and professors competed this year.

The BYU students trained for the competition during both fall and winter semesters. Students researched topics and practiced public-speaking skills.
