After a spate of recent restaurant closures, The European Connection Cafe & Creperie announced it will reopen one of its locations this weekend.

The vastly remodeled store, located at the corner of 2100 South and Highland Drive, will offer crepes, coffees and croissants. A coffee lounge with couches has been added, so customers can relax or connect to the Internet.

A grand re-opening celebration will be Friday and Saturday, including a caricature artist, clowns, balloons and music.

The European Connection Cafe and Creperie also operates locations at the University of Utah, The Gateway, Jordan Commons and at 6949 S. Park Center Drive in the Fort Union area.

The company confirmed in February that it had closed six restaurants in the Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden and St. George areas, citing bleak economic conditions. In a statement Wednesday, European Connections said that "in spite of recent setbacks, the company is making strides for a comeback. This last week our Sugarhouse location reopened under a new franchise."
