The New Zealand Consulate, the Salt Lake City Film Center and Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce present a special screening of the drama "Whale Rider" Monday.

Based on the book by Maori folklorist Witi Igimaera, the PG-13 rated feature follows a young girl and her grandfather, who is the film's title character. The movie took home an Audience Award for the favorite World Cinema film at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

This special event will also feature a program of traditional Maori dancing, as well as some light refreshments, including New Zealand pastries.
