Nedra Hansen Potter, 82, Salt Lake City, died May 30th of causes incident to Alzheimer's disease.
She was born July 5, 1920 in Preston, ID to Lorenzo Erastus and Ethel Maud Bosworth Hansen. She graduated from BYU with a bachelor's in Theatre Arts. After graduation she taught drama, English and biology in Clifford, ID. She married Francis Paul Potter June 12, 1943; later divorced.
She went on to accept many church callings as drama director, putting on many first-place original road shows. In the early 1970s she bought her first business, Atlas Tours & Travel, which she ran until 1996. During this period she opened a second business, a talent agency she named Act I (All-star Creative Talent). Nedra sent out singing telegrams wishing "Happy Birthday" and often would go herself dressed as a nurse, Marilyn Monroe, or her most famous bag lady named "Gladys McGlown." She wrote her own material and everyone loved her.
Nedra is survived by her five children, Karen Butterfield, Kris Robinson, Kirk Potter (Diana), Kim Potter, Kelly Potter (Suzanne); 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with two on the way. Preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Cloyd Hansen, Murl Womer, Lavelle Hansen, Goldie Harris, Therma Crockett, Kimber Han-sen, Lamarr Hansen; and grandson, Christopher Potter.
The family would like to thank Nedra's caregivers, especially Rayola Andersen, her nurse; and Kim Potter, her son, for their special help during the time of her illness.
Services will be Wed. 12 noon Brickyard LDS Ward Chapel, 1111 E Charlton Ave. (2815 S). Viewing Tues. 6:30-8 p.m. Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S) and 11:15-11:45 a.m. before services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
