"Mimi"

Mimi was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah the fourth child of an LDS mother, Louise Keller and devout Unitarian father, James W. Cherry.

As a daughter of cosmopolitan parents she was reared with a free spirit and an open mind, which became even stronger in her later years. Her father called her "Mimi" and that was echoed as her first grandchild began to call her name. Henceforth, she has been "Mimi." When her father was appointed Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court, the family moved to Salt Lake where she attended East High School. She learned to drive at 14, spent the summers with friends at Vivian Park and traveled by herself around Utah on the train.

At the University of Utah she was a member of Delta Epsilon, which became Delta Delta Delta "Tri-Delta." She married Joseph M. Moslander in 1927 and had a daughter, Cherry, and a son, Paul. They were a busy and active family that enjoyed being together, particularly learning to ski. Following Joe's death in 1955; she made several trips to Hawaii on the ship Lurline perfecting the Huki Lau and Limbo.

On July 3, 1960, she married Sidney M. Roberts (Gramps). They shared a wonderful life, traveling the world, from Columbus, OH to the Orient. Winters were spent in Hawaii and later Borrego Springs, CA and summers with their family in Salt Lake enjoying their garden.

Mimi had many talents and hobbies. She was a beautiful seamstress who would find elegant fabrics on her trips to fashion into lovely suits and dresses with shoes to match. She was talented on the organ and you could always catch her playing "Alley Cat" or another jazzy tune when you'd ring her doorbell. Bridge was a special time for her at least three times a week, which kept her alert and active in her later years. She had a passion for traveling and was ready to go at moment's notice. One of her triumphs was galloping the camel in Cairo.

Mimi was an ardent advocate for her family supporting her children in all of their activities and endeavors. She was also a member of The Country Club, Town Club, Neighborhood Garden Club, and Saturday Night Dancing Club.

Consistent with her firm belief in education for women, she endowed a scholarship for non-traditional women students at the University of Utah in 1993.
