1915 ~ 2003
LAYTON - Henry "Bill" Emerson Weaver, 88, peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at his home with his wife Ruth, who was the love of his life, and daughter Rebecca by his side.
Henry was born February 2, 1915 in Steelton, Pennsylvania, a son of Alfred C. and Sarah Jane Anstead Weaver. He married Ruth Blazzard of Kamas, UT on March 29, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple in Ogden, UT. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities including Ward Clerk and as a Stake Genealogy Specialist.
As a young man, Bill worked in a bakery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was an insurance salesman prior to enlisting in the Service. He served in the Air Corp attached to the U. S. Army and was part of the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He received many medals of honor, including the Bronze Star. Bill also owned and operated Weaver's Thrift Corner in Kamas, Utah. Working in the lumber industry for many years, he was the manager of Kamas Valley Lumber, Bestway Building Center in Layton, UT, and a lumber broker for Forest Service Products in Murray, UT.
Bill retired in 1977 but he never sat idle. He enjoyed gardening and became interested in computers and genealogy research, spending countless hours at his computer compiling family history books for all of Ruth's and his family. He touched the hearts of all he met and was an outstanding example for us all.
He never forgot the baking skills he learned as a youth and enjoyed many hours baking "the best bread in the world" to give to friends and family. But by far the greatest pleasure of his life was taking care of his loving wife Ruth. Bill showed his undying love for her each and every day of their lives together. Our family also appreciates the loving support of ReNae, Ami, Mary M., Pat, Nikki, Mary P, Jennifer and the aids from VistaCare Hospice.
We will miss you, Daddy.
Bill is survived by his wife Ruth, three daughters, Jeanne Seagle (Jim) Jensen, Magalia, CA; Esther (Jerry) Hicks, San Antonio, TX; Rebecca (Victor) La Duca, Layton, UT; one sister, Sarah Esther Rank, Middletown, PA; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2003 at the LDS Layton Central Ward, 60 West Gordon Ave., Layton, UT.
