ACCIDENTAL DEATH: Dallas Cowboys running back Ennis Haywood died accidentally from a mixture of drugs and ethanol complicated by his asthma, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office has ruled.
ASSAULT CHARGE: Michigan's Marlin Jackson, the Big Ten preseason defensive player of the year, was charged with felony assault. A warrant on charges of felonious assault and aggravated assault was filed Thursday.
COACHES SUSPENDED: Alabama State football coach L.C. Cole said he and two of his assistants were suspended for two weeks Friday by the university, which recently completed an eight-month internal investigation into the program.

WILLIS RE-SIGNED: The San Antonio Spurs have re-signed backup center Kevin Willis. Terms of the deal with the 19-year veteran, who turns 41 in September, were not announced.
MISSOURI INVESTIGATION: Missouri is investigating allegations made by former basketball player Ricky Clemons' ex-girlfriend that he received cash and clothing from coaches, a school official said Friday. Coach Quin Snyder acknowledged in a deposition taken during Clemons' prosecution for domestic assault that he gave the now-incarcerated athlete pants and a couple of pairs of shoes he had received as promotional gifts.
AZTEC BOOTED: San Diego State forward Evan Burns was kicked off the team for failing to meet academic requirements. Burns, the Mountain West Conference freshman of the year, averaged 9.2 points and 5.1 rebounds.
KIRILENKO CAMP: Utah Jazz player Andrei Kirilenko will conduct a basketball camp for boys and girls Aug. 4-8 at the new Murray Recreation Center. Separate daily sessions will be held for grades 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Cost of the five daily sessions is $110-$150. For information or registration call 264-2614.
HANSEN CAMP: Former BYU basketball player and recent Atlanta Hawks draftee Travis Hansen will host a summer basketball camp Aug. 11-13 at Mountain View High School. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18 and offers sessions from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Cost of the camp is $85. PILKINGTON LEAVES: Paul Pilkington, a part-time assistant track coach at Weber State for two seasons, is leaving to be a men's team assistant overseeing distance runners at the University of Illinois.
Fencing
UTAHN WINS: Utahn RJ Shipp recently took first place in the United States Fencing Association Summer National competition in Austin, Texas, earning him the title of United States National Fencing Champion for Youth-10 Men's Epee. RJ also took the Bronze Medal in the Youth-10 Men's Saber competition. RJ will hold
the U.S. National Fencing Champion title for one year until the next Summer National competition.
Recreation
LEAGUE SIGN-UPS: The Clearfield Parks and Recreation Department is registering adult softball and basketball leagues.
Softball registration runs through Aug. 16 and fees are $265. League games start the end of August and include both coed and men's leagues.
Basketball registration runs until Aug. 29 with team fees at $335. League play begins Sept. 15 and include men's, men's 6-feet and under, and men's recreational.
