BEAU ENSLOW, Alta: Through five games this year, no one has been able to stop this Alta senior running back.
He's rumbled for 669 yards and 12 touchdowns on 85 carries. That's an astonishing 7.9 yards per carry. What's even more amazing, in a reserve role last year, the junior racked up 689 yards and a 10.6 per carry average.
"This year we're showcasing him, and he's doing a wonderful job," said Alta coach Mitch Lunak.
Enslow is a Barry Sanders-type back in that he is only 5-foot-8 and 205 pounds. But his small, compact frame makes him very difficult to bring down.
"He has the ability to find a hole when there isn't one," said Lunak. "And he can make people miss."
Lunak believes Enslow can rush for more than 2,000 yards this year.
ANDRA HANSEN, Bountiful: As a senior captain of the Braves' soccer team, "Annie" has a flare for the dramatic. In three overtime games this season she has scored a "golden goal" or a goal in sudden death to end the game.
"One reason why she is successful is that she never quits. On our team we call her our Energizer Bunny," said Bountiful coach Dave Wigham. "She is one of the most well-liked girls on the team. Besides being a captain and a leader, more than that, she is a friend."
The Braves are ranked second in Class 4A thanks to Hansen's overtime goals and an eight-game winning streak.
Hansen has excelled in the classroom as well as the soccer field by maintaining a 3.5 GPA, including two recent report cards of straight A's.
