1914 ~ 2004

Elizabeth Marie Haglund died January 9, 2004 after 89 years of enjoying the privilege and challenge of mortality.

She was born in Salt Lake City July 16, 1914, the loving and beloved daughter of Eva Forsberg and Hakon H. Haglund, sharing many of her early years in New York City with sisters Jeanne and Ruth and brothers Howard and Richard (who survives).

As the favorite "Auntie Bis" to 21 nieces and nephews and their more than 70 children, she gave over 50 years of sweet service and companionship to them. She was reared and educated in suburban New York City and worked as an advertising copywriter for John Wiley and Sons. Later she affiliated with National Broadcasting Company in personnel and publicity management. She was executive director of public relations at the University of Utah and special assistant to the president of the university until her retirement. She served on general boards of the LDS Sunday School and Young Women's MIA, was active in community affairs, including United Way, Utah Chamber of Commerce and Utah Endowment for the Humanities.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S. Friday, January 16, from 6-8 p.m. Family graveside service at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue & N Street, on January 17, at 10 a.m. Memorial service Saturday, January 17 at 12 noon at the Monument Park 2nd Ward Chapel, 1005 South 2000 East.
