FILLMORE, UTAH- <! > Our beloved mother, Fern Afton Lambert Finlinson, returned home to her Heavenly Father 15 Jan. 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Afton was born 21 June 1914 to Maurice and Nellie Swallow Lambert in Fillmore, Utah. She was the eldest of three children. Her brother Maurice Reed and sister Venice May Goulding preceded her in death.

She married Edward Finlinson 17 April 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away 3 October 1997.

Afton was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many positions throughout her life, including a teacher in the Sunday School, Primary, MIA and Relief Society. She served as a chorister for many years and was Stake Music Leader. She has been Primary president, MIA president and Relief Society president. She has held Stake positions in Sunday School and MIA. She has served diligently as a visiting teacher for many years.

Afton has been a wonderful example to her five children, her 23 grandchildren and her 49 great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Helen and Ted Jorgensen, Salt Lake City, Utah; Steven and Elaine Finlinson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Edda Gay and Blaine Hilton, Bicknell, Utah; Bonny and Dave Harrison, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Joleen and Robert Ripplinger, Millville, Utah; her grandchildren and great-grand-children.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 24 January 2004 at 12:00 noon in the Fillmore Stake Center, 300 W. Center. Viewing will be held prior to services at the Stake Center from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Fillmore City Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Southern Utah Mortuary.
