My Sweetheart Forever

John Joseph Sargetakis. age 84, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 19, 2004 with his family by his bedside.

Born in Castlegate, Utah to Joseph Theodore and Despina Vasilakis Sargetakis, September 4, 1919. At the tender age of four, John lost his father in a mine explosion and was raised by his loving mother and Uncle Mike.

Married Georgia Patsuris on December 29, 1957 in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are an example of true love. Georgia was his constant companion, loving caregiver, and confidante for 46 wonderful years.

John was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, AHEPA, and Pan Cretan Association of America. He served in the United States Army as an air-traffic control operator during World War II. A graduate of West High, Class of '36. John continued his studies at the University of Utah.

John was a successful entrepreneur. He owned the fashionable "Windsor Lounge" until 1952. He later started Silver State Suppliers with his brothers, Ted, Mike, and Steve. His savvy business sense, kindness, diplomacy, and generosity contributed to a business now in its 52nd year.

John's world revolved around his family. They will forever cherish his wisdom, courage, unconditional love, faith, and humor. His family will lovingly remember his favorite pieces of advice: "take a chance", "roll with the punches", and "better days ahead". He will be remembered for his prolific stories of the "good old days," elegant sense of style, beautiful smile, passion for life, and "that" warm heart. He was a true gentleman.

His survivors, in addition to his widow incIude_ three daughters, Debbie (Brad) Pino; Dana Brewster (Doug Williams), Saundra (John) Galanis, Steve Brewster; six grandchildren, Georgiann Pino, Tiffany, Stacey, and Steven Brewster, Johnnie Joseph Galanis, and Kelly Williams. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Kaliope) Sargetakis, sister, Helen Lujan, Redondo Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Kaliope Sargetakis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by in-laws, Bill (Jean) Patsuris, Nick (Kelly) Sefakis, and Chris Metos. Preceded in death by brothers Ted Sargent, and Mike

Friends and relatives may pay their respects between the hours of 6-8 p.m for the viewing with Trisagion Service at 7:30 (p.m. at the Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday, January 23, 2004. Funeral services will be conducted at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 South Highland Drive on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Mt. 0Iivet Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Restoration Fund.
