"Will Be Missed"
Roland Yates, 89, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his adoring family Thursday, January 22, 2004.
Roland was born April 22, 1914 in Eureka, Utah to John Edwin and Ellen Houghton Yates. He married Vyrle Lundquist; later divorced. Married Mern Nerdin who preceded him in death. Roland married Eleanor Crooks and she survives him.
Roland worked as a blacksmith for Kennecott Copper for many years. He loved dogs, flowers, and music, not being particular because he loved all kinds. His love of hunting and fishing provided much enjoyment to his family and they relive many humorous adventures he provided for them. Roland endeared himself to his family and his many friends.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Eleanor for her loving care of Dad during his illness. We love you so much. Many thanks also to the kind care Dad recived from Vista Care, especially, nurse John Robison, Teresa, Heather, Janice, Ron Day, and Pastor Olie. We will always be grateful to you for making Dad's final months peaceful.
Survivors: wife, Eleanor Yates; children, Gerie Brigham (Frank, deceased), Kay Holt (Lynn), Gayle Player (Jack H.), Gary Yates (Karol), Jim Yates, Kathleen Miller, Cindi Pugmire (Brian), Richard Crooks (Debbie); 41 grandchildren, two deceased; 73 great-grandchildren, two deceased; nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Doyle and Merrill Yates; sister, Carol Hope Able. Preceded in death by two brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, January 28, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State where friends may call Wednesday 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
