My reaction was a mixture of amusement and disgust as I read yet another letter published by the Deseret Morning News (this time from Deborah Henrie of Bountiful) talking about how superior we Americans are and attributing this to the fact that we are (supposedly) a Judeo-Christian nation. Ms. Henrie believes that it is "because of our Christian values that we have become the most powerful nation in the world."
While I acknowledge that some people are more prone to "team spirit" than others and that it is human nature to want to give one's self a pat on the back, I would advise Ms. Henrie and others who share her thoughts to read what the Bible has to say about pride. They might find it quite surprising.
