I want to correct Robert Hammer (Reader's Forum, Dec. 3) on the issue of creationism in public schools. The motives of the right aren't to completely remove evolutionism from the curriculum and teach strictly creationism; rather, their motives are only to give teachers the right to teach creationism in schools. It's sad that we live in a society where if a teacher mentions the name God, then he or she stands at risk of penalty or possibly the loss of their job. That is wrong, especially when teachers are allowed to teach flawed theories such as evolution and the Big Bang theory.

As far as the never-ending debate going on between creationism and evolution, last time I checked, on the back of every American bill it states, "In God we trust," not "In monkeys we trust."
