The first-ever radio station dedicated solely to women in Utah is expected to hit the airwaves around March of next year, giving information and conversation geared toward female listeners.

AM-820, KUTR, believed to be one of the last open frequencies in the area on the AM radio dial, will be a sister station to KSL (AM-1160), a Bonneville International Corp. property.

"It is exciting to build a station literally from the ground up," Rod Arquette, vice president of operations and programming for the new station and KSL, said. "We are looking at all aspects of how this radio station can provide the information our female listeners need and want.

"We have conducted formal and informal research, focus groups and community discussions, and we feel we have a unique and viable format for the community. We are aggressively searching for a new, good local talent to be a part of this station," he said.

Whether the current KUTR call letters will stay in place isn't clear yet.
