In regards to Jacob Ricks' letter (Readers' Forum, Dec. 26) calling for a boycott of the film "Latter Days" and Borders Bookstore, I would like to point out that this film is an accurate and honest portrayal of returned missionaries who also happen to be gay. The film was written and directed by a man who was himself a missionary for the LDS Church and is gay.
The film is not meant to offend anyone's faith but to portray the lives and the difficulties faced by many of our LDS brothers and sisters who are gay. It finally portrays some of the feelings and experiences we have faced in our lives. It could hopefully help other LDS people to better understand some of the things we have gone through.
