MANTI<! > - David Carlyle Alder 92 of Manti, Utah passed away Wednesday Feb. 18, 2004, in St. George, Utah.

He was born December 31, 1911 in Manti, Utah to Charles Gotfried and Anna Emmereta Alder. David was the fourth of four children.

He married Elta Dudley November 1, 1933 in the Manti LDS Temple.

David was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various positions over the years, the most recent being a faithful home teacher. The calling he loved most was the five years he worked as an ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple.

For many years David participated with the American Legion, and was associated with the Mormon Miracle pageant. David's lifetime career was with the United States Postal Workers, where he served the community.

David is survived by four children, Ardith (Otto) Stewart of St. George; Carl "J" Alder, Salt Lake City; Jay Dudley (Connie) Alder, Manti; Carma (Alfred) Peterson, Henderson, Nevada; and a Daughter-in-law Kathleen Alder, Spanish Fork. 26 Grandchildren, 59 Great grandchildren and two Great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his eternal companion Elta (Dec. 17, 2002), two sons, Udell "D" and Val Charles, a daughter-in-law Mary Alder, his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Sat. Feb. 21, 2004 in the Manti LDS Tabernacle at 12:00 Noon where friends and family may call Friday from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Manti City Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 31. Funeral Directors Buchanan Mortuary.
