POCATELLO, Idaho — Mountain View's Leif Arrhenius broke his own national high school record at the Simplot Games track and field competition over the weekend. His 25-pound weight throw toss of 82'07.25 broke his own record by .75.

Arrhenius also finished second in the shot put with a toss of 64'03, a new state record. He was just one of several Utahns who fared exceptionally well at the 26th annual event.

Mountain View's Heidi Magill and Heidi Houle finished first and second in the 800-meter run. Another Bruin, Steve Strickland, held on to edge Provo's Jared Rohatinsky by a 10th of a second to win the 3200-meter run.

Northridge's Stacie Lifferth won the 1600-meter run and Viewmont's Trevor Heinor captured the high jump title.
