"My Sweetheart"

Klaus Johannes Christian Guertler was born on February 3, 1931 in Hamburg, Germany to Karla Schreiner and Hans Guertler. A beloved husband, father, son, and brother, he passed away suddenly of a heart attack on February 25, 2004.

Klaus immigrated to the United States on June 5, 1951 along with his parents and brother and sisters. Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent back to Germany where he was fortunate to play in the 7th Army Orchestra and participate in the Special Services Ski Team. In 1962 he married Bernice Swenson in the Logan Temple and together they had seven wonderful children. Klaus graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor and Master's degree in electrical engineering.

He worked many years for Utah Power and Light from which he retired in 1988. He served in the Swiss-Austria Mission 1956-1959. Klaus and his wife Bernice served at the Swiss Temple from 1998-1999. For many years he served faithfully in the Salt Lake Temple. Klaus was a faithful son of his Heavenly Father. He loved the Lord and he loved his family. These were the most important things in his life. Klaus was a talented musician and blessed many as a lifelong and gifted violinist.

He is survived by his wife Bernice; mother, Karla Guertler; sisters Resa, Christa, and Renate; brother Tom; children Monika (Kurt) Nygaard, Hans, Christian (Elizabeth), Andreas (Fausta), Tony (Donalene), Stefan (Andrea), and Daniel; 19 grandchildren.
