John Lambert Trayner, age 80, passed away Sunday March 7, 2004, at the Kolob Care Center in St. George, Utah.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 7, 1923 to George Parker and Grace Sophia Needham Lambert Trayner. Married Lucille Hortin Jensen on April 19, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lucille preceded him in death on November 13, 1991. He married Portia Sylvester Winget on April 28, 1993 in the Jordon River Temple. John has lived in St George for the past 11 years. He was employed by Utah Power and Light for 42 years (1942-1983). He also was employed at the Salt Palace and the Hilton Hotel. John was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving his Silver Beaver Award. Was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. John enjoyed traveling until his health no longer permitted it. Served in the United States Army in World War II.
Survived by his wife Portia, St George, Utah; son, Ronald, Kearns, Utah; two granddaughters, Nikki and Toni; four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Johnny, his parents, three sisters, Kathryn, Maryan, and Grace Eleanor, and his only brother, Parker.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday March 11, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 1750 East 3300 South. Friends may call on Wednesday evening March 10, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E.
