CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — The number of women admitted to Harvard University for the fall freshman class slightly surpassed the number of men for the first time in the school's history, officials said Thursday.
The pool of applicants included 1,016 women and 1,013 men culled from 19,750 applications.
Harvard officials have been trying to raise the number of women on campus for decades.
