1914 ~ 2004

OGDEN <! > - Elinor Stuart Gardner, recently celebrated her 90th birthday with friends and family.

She was born April 5, 1914, to

Ellen Fernelius and Claude Stuart, the first of ten children. She was a beloved wife, sister, aunt and a friend to all she knew. She passed away on April 20, 2004 of causes incident to age.

Elinor was raised in Uintah and received her teaching degree from Weber College. She then moved to Lund, Nevada to teach school. She met and married her husband, Cannon (Pete) Gardner, and they ran a cattle ranch together in Lund. Pete passed away in 1997. Although they never had children of their own, Elinor became a second mother to nieces, nephews and young people everywhere she went. She never forgot anyone at Christmas.

Upon retiring, she and Pete moved to St. George, Utah where their circle of friends and family multiplied.

Elinor was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions, and was particularly fond of Primary and Relief Society, where she served most of her life as a visiting teacher. She was an excellent piano player and shared her talents frequently.

For the past five years she has resided at Apple Village in Layton, where she declared she wanted to spend the "rest of her life". A special thanks to family members and all those who helped care for her needs during that time.

Elinor is survived by three sisters and three brothers, Lillian (Arden) Watson, Ila Jean (Ferrel) Carter, Joanne Robinson, C. Elliot (Fay) Stuart, Darrel (Afton) Stuart, Kenneth (Marion) Stuart, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are sisters, Verda, Marjorie, and Doris.

Funeral services will be held at the Uintah Ward Chapel, 6660 S. 1775 E., Uintah on Fri., April 23, 2004 at 10 a.m. A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. prior to services. Burial and graveside services will be held at the St. George City Cemetery, 700 E. Tabernacle, St. George on Sat., April 24, at 11 a.m. Send condolences to the family at:
