William "Keith" Aplanalp passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 from a massive heart attack in West Valley City, Utah.
Keith was born August 12, 1928 in Consumers, Utah to Charles David Aplanalp and Wanda Leah Wilson Aplanalp. Keith spent his early years in Carbon and Duchesne Counties attending schools in both places. He worked in the coal mines and saw mills before beginning his career with Chevron Oil Company, from which he retired after 38 years. Keith married Velma Ruby Allred on July 3, 1948 in Tabiona, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised six children in Rangely, Colorado. Keith prided himself on being a hard, dependable worker. He served in a bishopric as well as his favorite calling in the Sunday School presidency. He, together with his sons and other ward members spent countless hours working on the church farm. He loved horses and his favorite pastime was chasing wild horses. He was passionate about wood working and loved to study Western American History. Papa spent the last years of his life helping raise two of his grandchildren, Devin and Alexis.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Velma; sons, Dave (Joanne) Oakley, Duane (Doug), Salt Lake City, Darrell (Peggy) Rangely, CO, Dwight (Kellie), Grace, ID; daughter, Sherilyn, West Valley City; 11 grandchildren, one great- grand-child and sister, Myrle Guerrie. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ken and Tommy, and one sister, Charlene Wentland, and a daughter, Wanda Gaylene.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 14, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Hunter 2nd Ward, 5200 West 3970 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Ward, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
