Mary Katherine (Mary K.) Blankenship Adamson, 39, passed away May 12, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by those she loved, as she wished.

Mary K. was born November 13, 1964 in Fort Smith, AR to Jim McAllister and Brenda Blankenship. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1983. She received a Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of Arkansas in 1987. She came to Salt Lake to open a new Walmart store in Tooele where she met Trent. After a three week courtship they were married in Elko, NV.

She had two of her dreams come true when her family was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, December 2003 and then "honeymooned" at Disneyland in January 2004, thanks to the Giauque family. She has received her miracle with the knowledge that her family is forever.

Mary K. loved the outdoors, ATVing, camping, and had a passion for cooking. She was skilled in creating masterpieces whether it was in the Dutch oven, the kitchen or one of the many extravagant parties the "Queen of Party Planning" created. Mary K. was actively involved in many organizations, each one benefiting from her dedication, energy and creativity. The Girl Scouts of Utah, Upland Terrace PTA, South Salt Lake Choir and Orchestra are a few of the organizations who will never be the same without Mary K. She also loved working with the Primary children. Mary K. loved her children to distraction and her greatest happiness involved being with them, working in their classrooms at school and creating scrapbooks for them.

Mary K. is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Trent, their three children Alyssa, Valerie, and Brendan; parents Jim McAllister and Brenda Blankenship; sisters Diana (Steve) Taylor, Brenda (Scott) Jones, Shannon (Ray) Hunter; brothers David Benson, Sean (Patty) McAllister and grandmother Geraldene Blankenship.

Mary K. demanded her medical team have a close relationship with her. She received that kind of care from doctors Val Logsten, Edward Ganellen and Greg Litton. The family wishes to express their heart-felt gratitude for love, care and compassion received over the years. A special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Mark's Hospital and Utah Cancer Specialists. Trent and the children wish to thank his parents, Jim and Carolyn, Grandma and Grandpa Grape, Todd and Kelly, Troy, for the loving care given. Thanks to special friends Muriel, Vera, Maren, Peggy, Jamie, Stephanie, Tina and Mae for their support.

Friends and family will be received at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on May 14, 2004 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held May 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southgate Ward Chapel on 2702 South Main Street. Interment will be at the Salt Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.
