Answer: The cliffhanger finale on May 17 had former Marine Danny McCoy (Duhamel) being called back to active duty, but you can bet that Josh Duhamel won't be absent when the second season of the hit show begins this fall. Question: What has happened to Christiane Amanpour, a CNN reporter we have followed for years? Either we have just missed seeing her on CNN lately, or she's not been on. Either way, we have missed her. She is an excellent and credible reporter, and we certainly need more of those. —V.B.B., Corpus Christi, Texas

Answer: Amanpour does double duty as CNN's chief international correspondent and a contributor to CBS' "60 Minutes." She was in northern Chad in mid-May reporting for CNN on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Her story on the plight of Muslim women in the Paris ghettos was broadcast on "60 Minutes" on May 16.

Question: I seem to remember an after-school special in the early to mid-1970s that centered on a winged horse, and for some reason I'm thinking it starred Slim Pickens. Nobody else has heard of it, and it's driving me insane. I just need to know one way or another. I'll sleep better.

Answer: Well, after careful examination of the Slim Pickens oeuvre, which is a phrase that's a lot of fun to type, I have concluded you are referring to "The Winged Colt" from 1977.

The other (you should excuse the expression) "stars" are child actor Ike Eisenmann and Frank Cady, who played store owner Sam Drucker on "Petticoat Junction" and "Green Acres."

In case you're interested, "The Winged Colt" is not yet on video.
