Utah has a state flower (sego lily), bird (seagull), tree (blue spruce) and even an insect (honey bee). What would its state color be?
That's what the folks at Crayola would like to know. The crayon company has launched a contest to come up with a colorful crayon name for every state.
Kids can enter by choosing an existing color and giving it a new state name based on famous state people, landmarks, cities, natural wonders, historical events, symbols and anything else a state is famous for. Log on to www.crayola.com/state and enter before July 31. Winners will receive one of the first 64 boxes containing the colors.
Possibilities that have already been suggested include Great Salt Lake (for aquamarine), Desert Art (sunset orange), Beehive Brown (raw sienna), Mountain Snow (white) and I Bee Yellow (lemon yellow).
