Judge Norma Placchi, left, looks over Desert Storm during the judging of the Northwest Regional Cat Show Sunday. Cats from Utah, Idaho, Washington, Colorado, Oregon and northern California competed in the show. Placchi awarded Desert Storm first place. A judge looks over a Sphynx, right, during the judging. In 1966 a domestic cat gave birth to a hairless kitten in Toronto, Canada. It was discovered to be a natural mutation, and the Sphynx cat, as we know it today, came into existence. These cats have been produced by Mother Nature and are the foundation of this unusual breed.
