Point of the Mountain as a geological and cultural barrier is an interesting and amusing subject, but they have it a little too far north. In my 28 years of rural Utah experience, I have seen that there's a Payson-Dixie Line, a very real barrier that ends at southern Utah County and begins again at the Red Cliffs Mall. These real and imaginary limitations, often self-imposed, are probably the same in a lot of states with one or two major population centers. Bumpkinism is forever. It crosses all cultural and social lines. You find it in unexpected places, sometimes more often in boardrooms than barnyards. We have two choices: Either get over it, or get out the bulldozers — both literal and figurative.
