Gilda Hekking Schacht passed away June 2, 2004 at the age of 75. Born April 5, 1929 to Johanna Van Tryffel Hekking and Anthonie Albertus Hekking, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1947.
Gilda spent her life in the service of her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She'd give anyone all she had if you needed it.
She is survived by her sisters Annie Sorenson and Lola Meador of Salt Lake; brother John Hekking of Glendale, AZ; sister-in-law Beverly Hekking of CA; four children Mary Ann (Dale) Arrington, Gilda Kay Holder, Robert Schacht and Michael Schacht, all of Salt Lake; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; brother Andrew Hekking; sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and John Visser; and granddaughter Christine Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, where friends may visit Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
