Will Be Missed
Professor Donald R. Currey, professor of geography at the University of Utah, died on Sunday morning - D Day - in Bountiful.
Don was on the faculty for 34 years. His research emphasis was documenting the fluctuation of Lake Bonneville over 30,000 years. When completed, the study will have far reaching effects on many scientific areas, global climate changes in particular. Don was dedicated to his field and his graduate students. In April, Don had just completed a graduate research field trip to Death Valley and Owens Valley.
Many will remember Don: his brother, Stan Currey; sister-in-law, Carole Currey; nephew, nieces, grandnieces, university faculty and staff. He will also be missed by numerous graduate students, his other family, whom he served as teacher and mentor and who, in turn, enabled him to pursue and focus on what he loved.
In lieu of flowers, send contributions to the Donald R. Currey Graduate Research Scholarship Fund, University of Utah Foundation.
