The principal of Tooele High School apparently will not be charged with withholding evidence in connection with an incident involving members of the school baseball team who created a sex-based videotape.

Police told KSL-TV Thursday that Sandy Shepard received a copy of the tape from a parent but held onto it two days before handing it over to police.

Shepard's nephew is one of the juvenile players charged Thursday with sexual exploitation of a minor, according to KSL. The alleged sexual offenses occurred in March when team members were on a trip to St. George.

A total of two adults and four juveniles received the same charge. One of the adults was also charged with sodomy.

Friday, a spokesman for the Tooele City Attorney's Office said the incident involving the principal had been "looked into" and that his office did not "anticipate any charges stemming from that incident."

Tooele Police Chief Ron Kirby said his investigation did not turn up any evidence that Shepard purposely withheld the tape from police.
