Coach: Monte Morgan is starting his eighth year as the Knights' mentor. Prior to the Lone Peak job he coached at Wasatch High and for a spell in his native state of Colorado.

Key players: Senior Douglas Mulliner will see double duty, playing outside linebacker and fullback. Jason Long returns as a dangerous receiver and solid defensive back. The quarterback job is a battle between senior Matt Bahr and juniors Billy Burgess and Steve Jensen. Devin Dyer also should make the Knights' defensive backfield stingy. Ben Camp, Matt Burnham and Maverick Auelua are returning seniors who will anchor the offensive and defensive lines.

Strengths: The Knights have talent everywhere and are deep. No one will stand out, but as a team they'll play the game as well as any on both sides of the ball.

Question marks: Several juniors will play significant roles. No team has a more difficult schedule. Playing a non-league game against Northridge in the middle of league play could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Last season: 7-6 overall, region champs and lost in semifinals to eventual state champion Bountiful.

Projected 2004 Region 7 finish: First

Post-season possibilities: The Knights have the talent to make it to the semifinals, but they have too much youth to go further.
