Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell sprained a ligament in his right knee against the Giants on Saturday and might miss the regular-season finale next weekend.
Brunell hurt his MCL in the third quarter of a 35-20 win when he was sacked for a 9-yard loss by linebacker Nick Greisen early in the third quarter. Brunell will have an MRI exam Monday. The Redskins (9-6) can clinch a playoff berth by beating Philadelphia next week.
"There's a chance he can go next week. We'll just wait and see," Redskins director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer said. "We're going to be aggressive and work with him and see how he does."
Later in the third quarter, Giants middle linebacker Chase Blackburn was carted off the field and taken for X-rays after spraining his neck. He was hurt making a helmet-first tackle on H-back Chris Cooley and gave a thumbs-up as he was driven away.
"He was squeezing my hand and moving his legs around," coach Tom Coughlin said. "I really don't know what the blow was. It may have been a side blow that just shocked him off to one side. We haven't heard anything more from the medical people, so we're standing by on that."
Patrick Ramsey replaced Brunell and threw a 72-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss. Ramsey began the season as the Redskins' starting quarterback, but he was replaced by Brunell in the first half against Chicago in Week 1 after getting hurt.
Also, Redskins linebacker Chris Clemons left the game in the first half after spraining his knee on special teams.
Broncos running back Mike Anderson twisted his left ankle after topping 1,000 yards for the season and sat out the second half of a 22-3 win over Oakland. Anderson carried 10 times for 46 yards and a score.
In Miami, Titans quarterback Steve McNair left their game against the Miami Dolphins in the second quarter with a strained pectoral muscle.
McNair was 5-for-13 for 34 yards with two interceptions when he was replaced by Billy Volek. He's unsure whether he'll be able to play in the final game next week at Jacksonville.
Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant left their game against Indianapolis in the first quarter with a lower back bruise, further depleting the Seattle secondary. Kelly Herndon (knee) and Andre Dyson (ankle) were inactive for the game. Dyson will be out for the rest of the regular season, while Herndon has missed the last four games.
Texans defensive end Gary Walker injured his right triceps in a 38-20 loss to Jacksonville. The 6-foot-2, 324-pound Walker was hurt on the Jaguars' first play from scrimmage, a 17-yard pass from David Garrard to Jimmy Smith. Walker, in his 11th season, missed four games earlier this year with a shoulder injury.
OTHER INJURIES: Bengals cornerback Deltha O'Neal hurt his right knee on the Bengals' first defensive play against Buffalo, but returned in the second quarter; 49ers CB Bruce Thornton was carted off with a knee sprain and his backup, Derrick Johnson, had a stinger that coach Mike Nolan said would leave him questionable for the season finale; Cowboys WR Terry Glenn made the game-winning catch against Carolina with one hand — he dislocated his thumb on his second catch of the game; Falcons CB DeAngelo Hall strained his shoulder against Tampa Bay; and Eagles DE Jevon Kearse sprained his right knee in the first quarter against Arizona.
RIVERA'S STREAK ENDS: Dallas Cowboys right guard Marco Rivera sat out Saturday's game against the Carolina Panthers, ending his streak of 113 consecutive starts. Rivera strained his neck in last week's loss to Washington when he was flipped over and landed on his head. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. Rivera's streak was actually at 120 including playoffs. The Cowboys started center Andre Gurode in his place.
