Laval Turner West 1930 ~ 2005 Laval Turner West, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, in Mesa, Arizona. Laval was born on March 3, 1930, to Henry and Velma Howard West. He was the second of four sons. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Melburn. He is survived by his brothers Lavar and Kim. Laval married Rosalee Layton on February 23, 1949, in Mesa, Arizona. They are the parents of four children: Debra (Morris) Farnsworth of Mesa, Arizona; Curt (Rita) West of Littleton, Colorado; Tom (Denise) West of South Jordan, Utah; and Ann (Shane) Roe of Kearns, Utah. Laval was also the grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Laval's early life was spent in Thatcher, Arizona. He moved to Colorado with his wife and kids for a few years and finally settled his family in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked as a welder for the Salt Lake City Parks Department until his retirement. He and Rosalee then moved to St. George, Utah. His last two years were spent in Mesa, Arizona. Memorial Services were held in Mesa, with graveside services in the Thatcher Cemetery.
