Lana Massaro Beloved wife & mother Lana Massaro, R.N., 64, succumbed to emphysema on March 13, 2005 at St. Mark's Hospital. Lana passed away on the day of her 40th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Weingartner in 1982, and her father, John Weingartner in 1989. Lana is survived by her husband, Frank, and her daughter, Mrs. Tamara (Myron) Tanenbaum of Denver, plus her two granddaughters, Carissa Tanenbaum and Alaina Tanenbaum, and her daughter, Tracy Massaro, of Salt Lake. She is also survived by her mother, Evelyn Weingartner, 86 of Phoenix, her sister Mrs. Reita Landgraf of Denver and her brother, Dr. Roger Weingartner of Santa Rosa, CA. Lana also has three cousins in Salt Lake that are siblings, Mrs. Irene Martina, 95, John Fenamore, 93, and Mrs. Elaine Garrier, 90. Lana grew up in Phoenix and graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1961. She was the private scrub nurse for the three leading chest surgeons in Phoenix from 1961-65. She taught operating room nursing in 1969-70 at the U of U's School of Nursing before moving back to Phoenix. She went to work at Surgicenter in Phoenix in 1972. She started the first Laser surgery program in Phoenix in the 1980's at Surgicenter. Mrs. Massaro retired in 1994. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Utah, 1930 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84106. Lana's last admonition is "Don't Smoke".
