Todd P. Smith 1919 ~ 2005 Our husband, father, grandfather and friend, Todd P. Smith, died unexpectedly of a massive stroke on Wednesday, March 16 at St. Mark's Hospital. Todd was born in Dante, South Dakota on October 16, 1919. He married Eva Fern Mullin in Omaha, Nebraska on May 28, 1941. During World War II, Todd served honorably in the U. S. Army 90th Infantry Division--- Texas and Oklahoma Group. He landed at Utah Beach on D-Day and marched on to Germany. Todd retired from Western Paper Company in 1983 after a 37-year career in management and sales. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and currently a member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association. Todd was honored in February 1983. The Utah Press Association named him Honorary Publisher. Todd was a member of the First American Baptist Church of Salt Lake City. Todd is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Fern Smith. Also survived by his daughter Karen Carter, son-in-law, Raymond Carter and granddaughters Kristen Carter and Katherine (Katie) Carter. There will be no public service. We honored Todd's wishes that his body be given to the Body Donor Program at the University of Utah Medical Center for teaching and research. Gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the First Baptist Church Foundation (777 South 13th East, SLC, UT 84102). "We will miss you every day, Grandpa."
