SPRINGVILLE — A number of student artists from Utah County high schools were among the winners of the 33rd annual All-State High School Show sponsored by the Springville Museum of Art.
There were 782 entries from 71 high schools in the juried event this year.
Timpview senior David Barrett was one of three winners of the show's Master's Award for his untitled ink rendering and was named Outstanding Student of the Year by Brigham Young University's McKay School of Education.
Congressional Awards winners from the Utah County region were Kayla Wilde, first-place winner from Spanish Fork High School, for her pastel titled "Let's Pretend"; Amelia Landes, second-place winner from Payson High School with her color pencil drawing of two dalmatian puppies; and Boston Madsen, third-place winner from Springville High School for his acrylic on board work titled "Existence in Itself."
Winners' works were exhibited at the museum, and selections from the contest tour museums, galleries and libraries around the state with the Utah Arts Council Traveling Exhibition.
The show gives students a portfolio review opportunity with representatives of state colleges and universities.
Jurors for the 2005 show are Virgil Jacobsen, Springville Museum of Art curator of education; Jessica Weiss, assistant curator of education; Robert Nickelson, associate curator of education; artist Val Brinkerhoff; artist Ed Ham; Glen Richards of the Utah Arts Council; artist Ron Richmond; and museum educator Rita Wright.
