The Bountiful Tabernacle, 51 S. Main, is seen at left with its five original towers. The undated picture was probably taken in the late 1800s. The recent picture of the tabernacle, below right, also shows the Bountiful LDS Temple on the hillside behind it. The Bountiful Tabernacle, the oldest church meetinghouse in Utah, was dedicated on May 14, 1863. Demolition of the structure was recommended in the mid-1970s. However, preservationists won out and the structure underwent extensive remodeling in 1976-77. Today the Bountiful Tabernacle also includes a full-size cultural hall and is the home for several LDS wards in the area.
