OGDEN (AP) — A man who faced 31 fraud counts for jilting investors and employees in a plan to buy Nordic Valley ski resort has been ordered to pay nearly $2 million in restitution.

Randy Whetton, 32, was sentenced in October to serve six consecutive one-to-15-year prison terms.

Whetton was ordered Tuesday during a restitution hearing to pay $1.8 million to victims, including $621,475 owed to a construction company for unpaid work at the resort.

Another $365,000 is included in lost earnings for the resort ownership and $101,461 owed to Ray McNeeley, a principal owner.

Whetton ran the resort from January through March 2002, in the midst of the run-up and staging of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Allegations against him included a series of bounced checks to owners of the Ogden Valley resort.
