Obituary: Sandra Gibson Crawford

Sandra Gibson Crawford 1941 ~ 2005 Our mother, Sandra Gibson Crawford, 63, passed away May 15, 2005, of colon cancer. Her life was lived for her children and grandchildren, so she tried for two 1/2 years to treat the cancer and fought tenaciously to spend even one more day with them. Many of her family were at her bedside as she passed away including her three children, JoDean "Jodi" (Kelly), Kristina, and David (Rachelle). Mom was born August 12, 1941 to Raymon Hunter and Beatrice Tomlinson Gibson. She grew up in Carbon County, the youngest of four children. Her sister Ardyth Rae (Paul) Turner; and her two brothers, David Kent (Lila) Gibson and Courtland Tomlinson (Cathy Tanges) Gibson, survive her. Mom married Lee Raymond Crawford Jr.; but they later divorced. She faithfully raised her children on her own, sacrificing everything but her love and devotion to them. The joy and purpose of her life was her 11 grandchildren, Cassandra, Tiffani, Cameron, Quinn, Zachary, Jordan, Sierra, Brandon, Gibson, Kaitlin, and Meagan. She loved to spoil them. Many nieces and nephews whom she loved and greatly cared about also survive her. Her granddaughter, Meagan, preceded her in death. Mom retired after 40 years of service at the "phone company." She was always generous, giving and empathetic, so she easily made many good friends there who continued to check on her frequently throughout her illness. Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great testimony of the power of prayer. Thanks to her home teacher and visiting teacher for loving her with great charity. Many thanks to all the caregivers who helped in her care these past years so that she could stay at home. Special thanks to Utah Cancer Specialists staff, Dr. DiFiore, and especially Rosemary, for their compassion and support to Mom and also to her family and for letting her maintain her hope. Mom requested only graveside services. They will be at Heber City Cemetery, 700 North 600 East, Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers we request donations be made in her name to Utah Healthy Living Foundation, Attn: Colon Cancer Screening, 4252 S.
