Roland Kayser (Readers' Forum, April 30) makes universal health care sound almost mouth-watering but does not say anything about the down side. What about our friends up north in Canada who, if they can afford it, come down here to receive medical care? During my lifetime I have seen all kinds of insurance rates rise rapidly, sometimes astronomically. If we think something is free, we can't get enough of it. But it still has to be paid for.

Sorry, Roland, but there still just ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
