Severe weather Thursday sent several potentially dangerous surges of lightning across northern Utah.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., just after the black clouds covered the day sky, a bolt went through one woman's car, breaking the windshield and causing the air bags to deploy. UHP troopers also noted holes and hot tar in the pavement under the vehicle.
In another incident, lightning lit up a home in South Jordan. There was little damage to the home, but occupants saw the bolt touch down in their living room.

Electrical storms also threatened neighborhoods in Weber and Davis counties, where power lines were downed.
