Too many Deseret Morning News "opinionists" are not aware of the origins of the things they discuss. One of the latest examples is from June 14, in which it was believed that since the Founding Fathers didn't include pornography in the First Amendment, pornography then should not be protected as free speech. The literal Greek meaning of pornography is "art exhibit." It carries no moral value. It was not until 1857 when the Dunglison Medical Dictionary associated it with hookers (who publicly exhibit themselves) and then finally Webster in 1864 associated the word with only the nude Greek artwork. This is more than 75 years after our Founding Fathers and over 50 years after the addition of the First Amendment in 1791.
