Course description: Although the actual creek by which the course was named only comes into play on seven holes, the trees that line the winding creek come into play on 15 of the 18 holes. Every hole is bordered by water, oak or cottonwoods — which makes accuracy a must on this fairly short but scenic layout. Hobble Creek's sloping greens are considered among the state's fastest, smoothest and most-difficult to putt. Each side has three holes considered Hobble Creek's "Amen Corners." On the front side, holes No. 4, 5 and 6 present the biggest challenge. On the back, holes No. 15, 16 and 17 can make or break a round. There is not one poorly designed hole on this varied layout. In October, with the fall colors in full bloom, Hobble Creek might be the state's most scenic golf course.

Holes to remember: When the blue tees on the par-4 No. 2 hole were placed on the back tier for the Art City Amateur, most golfers were commenting on how tight the hole had become. It requires a tee shot through the trees to a fairway lined by trees, with the creek passing in front of the tee and green — taking the driver out of most golfers' hands. A second shot over the creek to a green surrounded by trees leaves no easy putt. The par-3 sixth, with a tee shot over the creek between two large trees, might be Hobble Creek's most picturesque, but a poor shot will lead to at least a bogey or worse. The par-4 11th is a short hole, but requires the most accurate tee shot and the green is surrounded by three well-placed bunkers. The toughest hole on the course is the tight par-4 17th. There is no forgiveness off the tee to the right or left. A tall tree by the creek left makes the second shot difficult, and the green slopes severely from front to back.
