Stefani Macias (Readers' Forum, June 30) calls the people of UFIRE and the Minutemen racist, saying "we are the land of the free" and that it is un-American to deny illegal immigrants from Mexico entry. She asks why our ancestors came here.
Yes, our ancestors all came here for something better, but they did so legally and lawfully. I believe UFIRE and Minutemen have a problem with the tax money they must pay to support the illegals for health care, which is not a right or privilege but should be a paid service. The Mexican government has plenty of money and resources to support its citizens but is too corrupt to do so. Why don't you complain to them instead of to the Americans trying to uphold the law?
Indeed, this is the land of the free, but not the freeloader.
