OREM — E-commerce company iMergent Inc. said Friday it has agreed with the Texas State Attorney General's Office on a temporary order relating to the complaint that had been filed by the attorney general.
The company was sued by Texas earlier this year for alleged deceptive business practices by iMergent, through subsidiary StoresOnLine.com, that violated Texas law. The suit stemmed from complaints from participants in StoresOnLine seminars for people interested in starting a business on the Internet.
The complaints indicated that once people bought packages, "they are basically left with worthless software which does not work and for which they are asked to pay still more money for more assistance which is of little or no value."
Jeffery Korn, iMergent general counsel, said in a prepared statement Friday that the agreement allows iMergent to "continue conducting business domestically and internationally using improved documentation and disclosure within our business model that has historically brought the company successful results."
The two sides will continue to discuss terms of a permanent order, iMergent said.
