Texas-based Activant Solutions Inc., which has operations in Utah, said Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire Prophet 21, based in Pennsylvania, for about $215 million.
Activant provides business management products for small and medium-size businesses in four primary markets: hardware and home centers; lumber and building materials; automotive parts aftermarkets; and wholesale distribution.
Prophet 21 develops technology products and services for the wholesale distribution market.

Prophet 21 will merge with a newly formed Activant subsidiary. The transaction is expected to close in mid-September.
