After West Bountiful police asked the public if anyone has been victimized by Vance Gordon Green, 11 people came forward Thursday and Friday.

Green was charged Wednesday in 2nd District Court with five counts of child rape and six counts of sodomy on a child, following allegations that he had sexually abused an 11-year-old girl numerous times in 2001 and 2003.

The 44-year-old was arrested Tuesday and is being held in the Davis County Jail on $75,000 bail.

Charges say Green confessed to the crimes after the girl talked about the rape and sodomy to a counselor, who notified police.

West Bountiful Police Chief Mike Wright said police had investigated Green in the past, but until the victim came forward, they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him.

Police originally thought there may be five other victims in the girl's Girl Scout troop, Wright said, adding that he asks any other victims to contact police at 801-292-4487.

So far, 11 people have contacted police, including one woman who is a friend of Green's ex-wife. West Bountiful detective James Sheldon said sexual battery charges are pending against Green in that case.
